HHMC Committees
The following is a list of those HHMC committees that normally exist. From time to time one or more of the committees may not be staffed or may be only partially staffed.
The descriptions of committee functions are brief summaries; they should be considered goals rather than guarantees.
Annual Meeting

Deals with all aspects of annual potlucks.
Architectural Control Chair: Ed English
Beautification

Maintains entrance signs and benches and adjacent areas. Decorates entrance sign areas.
Caring
Chair: Barry Fahlstedt
Community Environment Chair: Lew Norris
Administers governing documents relating to non-construction issues.
Government Liaison

Greenbelt
Chair: John O'Kief
Group Backflow Test Coord Lew Norris
Coordinates a program for PUD-mandated inspections of backflow preventers.
Highlander
Editor and Publisher: Holly Brown
Publishes our monthly newsletter to members, The Highlander, which is posted on our web site.
Highlander Reporter Reporter-at-Large: David Harrison
Information Technology Manager: Wayne Marano
Legislative Liaison Chair:
Monitors proposed legislation effecting homeowners associations and identifies impact on HHMC.
Mowing
Co-Chairs: Ted Johnson
Coordinates and administers a program for the mowing of undeveloped lots.
Nominating

Nominates trustee candidates for annual meetings of members. Recommends candidates to fill trustee vacancies.

Maintain the operating efficiency of HHMC’s office and office equipment and supplies.
Ombudsman

Owners Manual Coord Chair: Jim Barnfather
Roads & Drainage
Chair:
Deals with all aspects of the roads and drainage systems and programs.
Safety & Awareness
Chair: David Stahl
Promotes personal safety and property security in Highland Hills.
Welcoming
Chair: Davi Witt
Welcomes new residents through casual home visits and welcome parties.
Responsible for: 1) maintaining office computer, printer, backup copier and wireless network; 2) design and updating a database of homeowner and lot information; 3) updating a community map of Highland Hills; and 4) technical maintenance and updating the HHMC web site.
Facilitates dispute resolution between resident members, upon request by these members, concerning matters governed by HHMC rules and policies.
Distributes to new owners a compact disc (CD) containing the latest HHMC governing documents and other information.
Authors and solicits articles appropriate for publication in The Highlander. Distributes hard copies of The Highlander to members who do not have computer capabilities to access the website version.
Coordinates with the City of Sequim, the Highland Irrigation District and the Architectural Control Committee, responses to members’ requests to cut trees or make any other changes to the natural condition of “greenbelt” zones on their lots.
Monitors and responds to proposed changes in regulations, and other actions, related to land use that impact Highland Hills.
Reviews and responds to proposals for, and administers governing documents related to, excavation, new construction and additions. Reviews and responds to requests for tree cutting.
Arranges for and serves refreshments at annual meetings of members. Assists with set-up and take-down of meeting chairs and tables.
Maintains information regarding community support and services. Provides temporary ambulatory and transportation assistance to members in need. Provides expressions of comfort.
